Within a couple of hours of the news of a Police Constable from Jaipur being tested COVID Positive was released, the Udaipur administration was in for another shocker.  This time a 48 year old lady from the city has tested positive.

The lady ,aged 48, is a resident of Gariyawas.  She is already undergoing treatment for Cancer at the MB Hospital. She was tested for COVID following symptoms and has been transferred to the Coronavirus section of the hospital.  The reasons of her contracting the infection are not yet known, making it one of the most dangerous and complicated cases in Udaipur's tryst with Coronavirus. Uptill now, the primary carriers have come from outside the city. But this lady, has been in the city and is already a Cancer patient.

The administration, Police and medical department is on its toes to round up the close contacts and do contact tracing. Screening of the close contacts has begun and they will then be transferred to quarantine. This was confirmed by CMHO, Dr. Dinesh Kharade.  10 Close Contacts, which include her husband, a tenant and 8 members of the household have been sent for screening to the MB Hospital.  Her husband works at the Savina Sabzi Mandi.

SP Udaipur Kailash Bishnoi has confirmed that his team has applied curfew as per the procedural parameters and 1km and 3km radius methodology of imposing curfew and strict lockdown is being followed.  The patients immediate family's samples have been collected and sent for testing.

Curfew in this area of the city presents a lot of difficulty for the entire city as such, since the main Vegetable and Fruits Mandi as well as the Krishi Upad Mandi are in the same area where the Curfew and strict lockdown are in place from tonight.

More information on how the lady was infected is not yet available. It is possible that she might have interacted with another carrier in the hospital, or outside, which is matter of grave concern, as this means that the carrier is still on the loose and unidentified.
