A village, not so far away from Udaipur has moved forward espousing the technological advancements while keeping its foot to ground. Rajsamand district’s Piplantri Panchayati Raj maintains a distinct name through its high-tech approach.
The smart village Piplantri welcomes you with a boulevard of Neem trees. The village encompasses all the urban facilities, except that it holds natural beauty that remains abstain in the city.
Former Sarpanch Shyam Sunder Paliwal told that, announced as Nirmal Panchayat in 2007, Piplantri Panchayati Raj holds a special place for its high tech approach. The village has initiated a noble cause to not only save girl child but through that cause has accentuated the natural beauty all around.
When a girl child is born in the village, the villager plant 111 trees and takes all the required actions for their growth. This has emerged the feeling of girl child acceptance in the village while conserving the environment. Here, at Rakhshabandhan, girls tie Rakhi to trees.
From Panchayat’s side, a fixed deposit of Rs. 21,000 is being made in the name of girl child. Not only this, the water harvesting system of Piplantri has inspired people all over the world.
Shyam Sunder says, “12 years back, even this village was dirty with no adequate facility. The commencement was made from Panchayat Bhawan with fitted AC and high tech facilities. The encroachment was removed and roads were made wider.”
Besides the effort made to sustain natural environment in the village, each and every women in the village is financially stable. The high growth of Aloe Vera plants in the village are used to manufacture products here at Piplantri and consumers visit the village for purchasing.
Working in a self help group, one of the women workers said, “There are more than 10 Lac plants of Aloe Vera which we use to produce health products such as face wash, soaps, shampoos etc. With their sale, the revenue generated is around Rs. 12-15,000 per month. All these products are being registered under Piplantri’s name.”
The distinctive traits of the village Piplantri are that the village displays a rural picture of a typical Indian village with vast fields and wells but also projects a developed image. The village is equipped with water connection in all the houses, dust bins at every 100 meters, clean and paved roads. There is a provision of school, bank, hospital and all kinds of shops.
The village boasts of solar panels for electricity and water that many of the cities do not have. This smart village is inspiring many villages to transform them and instill sustainability, technology, empowerment and environmental conservation whilst being attached to its roots, tradition and culture.
