The minister also said that the transport department has come up with a new technique for this purpose. As per the technique, no one will be able to pressurise the RTO-DTO for the number of their choice and neither will the RTO and DTO and other transport office employees be able to pass on numbers to their own family and friends. This technique will help maintain transparency. This has already been applied in Jaipur. It will be enforced in all other cities soon.
The transport department will keep updating the number series before it comes to end. This software will also be provided to the dealers. All RTO-DTO servers will be linked to the main computer head-office. As soon as the vehicle owner’s name, chasis number and engine number will be entered in the system, numbers will be allotted. This procedure can be applied by many dealers and the details of what number given to whom will not be known to anyone. VIP numbers will be kept blocked in the softwares.
