Cricket fascinates everybody, the rich, the poor, the old and the young.

You don’t have to be an aficionada towards that game to enjoy it. Just sit with others in front of the TV and suddenly you will find yourself in a jocose / jocund mode.

You will also feel that your alacrity has shot up. Isn’t it fantastic? Let us see how these transformations take place. In cricket a lot of missing, kissing, swinging, hitting, chasing etc. takes place. Let’s go into the details.

Missing: When a ball misses the stump or a catch is missed by a fielder then tragedy for the fielding side and comedy for the batting side creeps in. Misfield, misjudge, mishit, misbehave, mishap, mistimed, etc takes place in cricket and they are all associated with tragedy. In the gallery/stand also a miss may miss a kiss from her friend due to some unforeseen reason which is beyond one’s control. It is a tragedy.

Kissing: When a ball kisses the bat it flies off to another fielder who may miss or may not. If he misses then it becomes tragedy for the fielding side and comedy for the batting side. So we find here that though kissing takes place, the result may be either tragic or comic. A ball may kiss a stump but the bails do not get dislodged. It is a tragedy/comedy depending on whose side you are on.

From (1) and (2) we can conclude that –“To miss a kiss is a tragedy’’ and “To kiss a miss is a comedy.’’

Swinging: When a bowler bowls, the ball may swing ‘in’ to the batsman and is called an ‘in-swinger’ and if the ball deviates away from the batsman then it is called an ‘out-swinger’. ‘Swinging’, in this context means swaying of the ball.

In the stand/gallery also, similar swinging and swaying of hearts takes place. All the spectators are in a frolicsome mode and they have a dejure dekko. A young male and a young lady may stare at each other and start tittle-tattle business.

As the batsman watches very attentively the delivery style of the bowler and tries to find out in which way the ball will move, a similar methodology is observed in the gallery, where a young male/lady follow each other’s gestures. If the batsman fails to read the bowler, he has to go back to the pavilion. Similarly if a male/female misread each other’s gesticulations then they have to leave the stadium with a lacerated heart.

Chasing: A fielder chases a ball. Sometimes he is successful and sometimes he is not. A young male chases a lady and finds nothing because he does not know that females control the chase and choice. They are always brilliant in navigating and maneuvering while passing through the complex network of romance.

Next time you visit a stadium for a cricket match, remain watchful and take care of the following points:

A- In a stadium a lot of gestures which conveys romance/friendly intentions happen for fun only. These strong emotions/ impulses are short lived ”enthusiasm for something”.

B- Keep away from the labyrinthine network of romance, for, suddenly you may find yourself in a cul-de-sac situation.

C- Chase impossibility. You can catch excellence. But avoid airy-fairy thinking.

D- In a stadium you meet brilliant persons with strange habits. Some spectators give different names to different galleries e.g. Calf-love Stand, Cradle-snatcher Stand, etc. Isn’t it interesting? You learn so many things.

E- Cricket is full of uncertainties. No one knows what will happen next. In a stadium don’t take things for granted. Some of your gestures to hook female/male attraction may or may not work. It is very easy to be in an incorporeal mode and fly here and there. But you are certainly not certain where you will land.

F- In a stadium avoid looking at her frequently. You will find nothing. No changes at all. Do you know the reason behind this phenomenon? Always remember “A watched liquid never boils”.
