UK police have cautioned Indians living in Leicester in east Midlands to stay away from Tantriks and babas who take a hefty amount promising love and luck.  Many Indians gave away thousands of pounds falling prey to such promising words, but in vain.  A healer who calls himself “Kamalji” was jailed last year for fooling people in UK, US and Canada.

Leicester police officials warned people against such tantriks and have encouraged masses to contact the police if any such person promising people a lot in exchange for money approaches them.  A campaign was also started by the police to educate people against such fraudulent people who falsely claim to perform miracles.

The man named Kamalji, whose real name is Mohd Ashrafi, reportedly owns property in India and was jailed for conning more than 61 thousand pounds from people.  Asian Rationalist Society of Britain has appealed to the Asian community that they should logically understand that no one has miraculous or extraordinary powers.

Anasuddin Azeez , Indian origin editor of Asian Lite, said that his publishing company gets 3 calls every day from such babas who wish to advertise themselves.  Refused by the company, they try to threaten by sending parcels containing ashes, egg shells, hair, lemons, threads and also mantras scribbled on metal bits.
