Woman Power

Since every magazine, every newspaper, every media channel and every heart is overflowing with the news of woman power every now and then, let us take a look at this one which I noticed today.
Not in a mood to work, I thought of taking a round of the city and obviously before moving further ahead, I decided to feed my vehicle with fuel. As usual I stopped at the Chetak Circle petrol pump.
The woman power term came to my mind as I saw two young girls as petrol pump staff at a Gas Station near Chetak Circle. I was not really surprised as I have seen women at the petrol pump working even night shift at Bengaluru. But in this small city of ours, girls filling fuel in the vehicle is definitely a surprising sight. Some youngsters also felt embarrassed as they asked these young ladies for petrol. Usually at petrol pumps you hear the last person in queue asking the male staff in a loud voice to quickly fill up the tank of their vehicle showing too much hurry and emergency, but with the female staff around now there was no line breaking and shouting and I did try to stop myself from laughing when a young man in queue actually said “Namaste Madam, 100 ka petrol chahiye”.
Woman power …isn’t it? But these young ladies were really shy when I asked them to pose for a photograph and had to urge them as a result of which one of them agreed and the other slipped away from the scene. I had to click the pic of her from a different angle.
I could also hear people whispering at the sight of female staff saying “लड़कियां आजकल स्मार्ट हो गई है, किसी से नहीं डरतीं”. I felt good, felt all the more smarter and more powerful. What I actually want to tell the world, more specifically convey a message to my fellow Udaipurites, that no one should ever try to suppress women and all those who feel that the fairer sex look good at home should take a lesson from this and those people out there who are trying to betray the families for money and property should stand up to earn for their own living.
Amen-Women
