Words of caution during monsoon
A few words of caution for the masses.
Monsoon is gaining speed. Here are a few words of caution for the masses.
After a long spell of heat, monsoon has gained speed in every part of the country. People are enjoying this weather for it is like none other. Picnics, outings, fun are the basic happenings in this season. Everyone loves to be out in the rains. Outings happen in groups which is a but-natural thing. But overjoyed public tends to ignore the dangers that monsoon brings with it.
Flowing waters attract everyone. But when this flow turns into a current, it turns dangerous. Water is the only element that kills without giving you a chance to escape. When it flows in speed, there is no term called control. Floods in various parts of the country have demanded uncountable lives. With the increasing rainfall, all lakes, waterfalls, rivers start overflowing. This is when we need to be careful.
Being overcautious is the call of the hour. Do not make an attempt to cross a bridge with flowing water. You are inviting trouble if you do so. Stay away from waterfalls as well. The speed of water from a waterfall is equally dangerous. It imbalances even the heaviest of person. Water knows no barriers. It flows freely and with full swing. Do not try to drive through an area where water logging is a common happening. Movement of water imbalances vehicles and you might not get a chance to move out and be forced to go with the flow which is obviously fatal in maximum cases.
Stay away from rivulets and brooks, too. We do not realise where they lead to. In fact, this season it is not a good idea to have outdoor fun. A minor mistake can create a hell for life. Actually now it is not the time to have picnics, it is actually the time to stay safe. When even the streets are full of water, it is safe to stay away. Work calls for moving out, but be careful when that intuition tells you that something is not right. Driving a two wheeler is most dangerous in flooded streets. It is even considered safe to walk home taking all the side roads but being in a scooter may be dangerous. (I got stuck twice, close to being swept away…so I know how it feels).
Please be careful. Water is the most essential element. But at the same time it is the most dangerous one. All may not agree with me, I know this, but I request everyone to be extra cautious. Your loved ones are always waiting for you at home.
