Industrialist Anand Mahindra on Monday May 8, 2023, praised the new Delhi-Mumbai expressway which aims to cut travel time between the country’s two biggest cities in half, to just 12 hours. The chairman of Mahindra Group was impressed with the expressway’s construction and he suggested that Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India should come up with a virtual experience of the roads.

“Amazing. To say that that provokes wanderlust would be an understatement.” - Nitin Gadkari

Nitin Gadkari has shown some pictures of the Madhya Pradesh section of Delhi-Mumbai expressway which covers 244 km.

The 1,350 km long and 8 lanes wide (with the ability to grow to 12 lanes) Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to be opened by next year. The expressway's route would pass through the 12 km long Union Territory of Delhi, as well as the states of Gujarat (426 km), Haryana (129 km), Madhya Pradesh (244 km), Rajasthan (373 km), and Maharashtra (171 km).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier inaugurated the 246-km Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway which is set to reduce the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur from five hours to around three and a half hours.
