Both Desi and Videshi brands are heading towards the land of Maharajas. Retail chains Westside and Walmart are opening soon in Udaipur’s two different malls in next few months.

Westside is coming soon in RKay Mall while Walmart will soon start in Celebration Mall, though we have no official version yet but we are quite sure.

Unofficial sources have also confirmed that Westside has signed a deal with RKay Mall. Walmart has already made their way to start in Celebration Mall.

Vishal Mega Mart, Reliance Fresh and Big Bazaar looks settled in Udaipur retail market, all three of these stores have their own occupied land to operate, almost certainly because there was no mall-culture introduced in Udaipur few years back.

Westside is operated by Trent, the retail arm of TATA Group, It operates in more than 20 metros and mini metro cities of India with more than 40 stores. Westside is known as one of the biggest retail chain in India.

Talking about Walmart, then it’s an American brand which operates in India with the name Bharti Walmart Pvt. Ltd, a joint venture by Walmart and Bharti Enterprises. Walmart is one of the world’s leading retailers, best known for its efficiency and expertise in logistics, supply chain management and sourcing.

In another commercial up-down, Café Barista closed both of their outlets in Udaipur few days back.

Though we could not reach the authority but market reports says that the company has decided to shut down its operation in Rajasthan (Barista also stopped operating in Jaipur) and might come back with franchise preference.

Question is how Udaipur’s consumer market will take these changes in coming months and years? and How many more brands are waiting for their right time to arrive in Udaipur?

After RK Mall, Celebration Mall is still waiting for their grand opening though Mc Donald’s has already started in Celebration Mall but still the curtain is half raised. On other side, lakecity mall near durga nursery road is also getting ready to throw their cards.

Definitely, Udaipur’s economy is raising its potential to attract giants in corporate sectors to invest good bucks.
