Udaipur is set to host Rajasthan’s first and India’s third Sheroes’ Hangout Cafe. The unique feature of these cafe is that they are run by victims of acid attacks.
The first of such cafes was launched in Agra in 2014 by Team “Stop Acid Attacks” with the objective of providing support to the victims of Acid Acid. The cafe in Agra is being run by 5 acid attack survivors.The cafe in Agra also became the first Rock Out centre of the country and got a large number of women to become a part of the campaign. This campaign helped over 150 victims to be benefited in Uttar Pradesh. Second such cafe was opened in Lucknow by CM Akhilesh Yadav.
In Udaipur, the cafe will mark its presence at Arvana mall, Hathipole and is slated for inauguration on Aug 26, 2016. Cafe in Udaipur will be run by acid attack victim Rani from Odissa (2012 victim), Ritu from Haryana (2009) and Kirupa from Uttar Pradesh (2006). Another acid attack victim Lakshmi will also be present during the opening ceremony.
As per team “Stop Acid Attacks”, objective of these cafes is to provide sustenance and support to acid attack victims and help them regain their lost self-esteem.
