Chanda Kochhar – CEO and MD of ICICI Bank was in Udaipur today to inaugurate the foundation of ICICI’s new branch office which is going to be constructed in MLSU campus. The foundation ceremony was held today at 10:30AM.

The foundation ceremony was held today at 10:30AM. The raising of the foundation curtain was made by Chanda Kochhar, Dr. C.P Joshi -Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Prof. I.V Trivedi – vice chancellor of MLSU in the presence of ICICI bank’s senior officials and other addressees. There was Bank of Rajasthan’s office in University campus but since it merged with ICICI bank last year, the authority has decided to move the location of it’s to near the boys hostel in university compound. Tree plantation was also done by Chanda Kochhar and C.P Joshi. In a short speech, Chanda Kochhar said that “today we are laying foundation of our bank building, and with this we are also laying foundation for the prosperity of the university as well” Continuing with her pleasant gesture Chanda Kochhar said that “ Universities should also educate students with significant knowledge of commercial world”. Chanda Kochhar was born in Jodhpur, though she passed most of her childhood in Jaipur before moving to Mumbai for further education. There are lists of awards and recognitions ICICI  Bank honored, in the leadership of 49 year old Chanda Kochhar who joined ICICI in 1984 as a management trainee. She frequently listed in many magazines and media groups as one of the most powerful and influential women of India and world. In 2009, Forbes listed her 20 th most powerful women of world; Chanda Kochhar is also awarded with Padma Bhushan. Chanda Kochhar will leave for Mumbai by today itself. Reported by Sayeed Ahmed
