Hindustan Zinc, a company of Vedanta group was awarded today with ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Award’ (CSR) by ASSOCHAM in an event organized at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi.

Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, Minister for Corporate Affairs presented this award to Akhilesh Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Zinc; for the company’s performance in corporate social responsibility.

“Hindustan Zinc is aware of its corporate responsibility and is known for it. And in future also we will always keep contributing to the society,” says Pawan Kaushik, Head, Corporate Communications.

Hindustan Zinc is providing social services in 200 villages and about 1500 schools. They also work for the empowerment and encouragement of women to make them independent. Adding to that, they work for the employment of the young masses in villages as well.

They keep organizing medical camps; provide help in arrangement of water, day meal and agricultural development. Hindustan Zinc also runs a hospital in the city called ‘Vedanta Hindustan Zinc Heart Hospital’.

The company has been awarded with many global awards including Asian CSR Excellence Award, TERI’s Social Responsibility Award and FIMI Social Awareness Award for their outstanding involvement in the welfare of the general public.
