March 17, 2025 – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry released India's Wholesale Price Index (WPI) data at 2.38% in February. This was a slight increase from the 2.31% in January. Last year, the WPI inflation data in February was 0.2%
The marginal hike in WPI this month is owing to the price rise in manufactured food items such as beverages and vegetable oil, which jumped to 11.06% in February, according to the government. Wholesale inflation in Primary Articles declined to 2.81% from 4.69%, WPI food inflation fell to 5.94% this month vis-à-vis 7.47% in January 2025. The Fuel and Power sector was at -0.71% in February, compared to -2.78% in January.
