Telecom leaders Bharti Airtel and Vodafone were enjoying monopoly in the market prior to the launch of Reliance Jio. The data charges were increasing on continuous basis before Mukesh Ambani announced  unlimited data and voice calls to Reliance Jio users from September 2016. Free data usage and unlimited voice calling service by Jio were the key factors that helped them achieve more than 100 million users within just 170 days of their launch.

Now Reliance Jio users can subscribe for Prime membership at just Rs.99 for the period of 1 year from 1 April 2017 to avail unlimited voice call and data at just Rs.303 per month along with other benefits. In response to this, Bharti Airtel Chief Sunil Mittal has today announced that Roaming will be Free within India. Airtel users do not need to pay for incoming calls, no premium charges for outgoing calls or for SMSs or data usage while they travel anywhere within the country.
