Navratri, the 9 nights of prayers and cogitation includes Garba, a traditional dance which appears from an ancient way of honoring the Goddess Durga to its evolution as a modern dance form of today.

The garba costumes are always in demand in Navratri. The dance of Garba which is believed to have its origin from neighboring state of Gujarat has varieties of offerings for garba enthusiasts.

The colorful pagri and layered kurta with dhoti for men and embroider chaniya-choli for women with various imitation jewelries give the look of perfect garba dancers. But there was not a single shop in Udaipur to buy special garba dress and accessories till a recent launch of ‘Garba Bazar’.

Garba Bazar, is a perfect and only place in the city where one can get anything to everything from dresses, jewelries, dandiyas, accessories and temporary tattoos etc. in affordable prices.

Vinod Makhija, the owner of Garba Bazar says, “In Ahmedabad, people have to shop jewelries from Manak Chowk while Rani Ka Gyra is famous for chaniya cholI, but here I tried to put together everything at one place.”

While showing those embossed, metallic, roller and artistically crafted dandiyas Vinod also illustrated varieties of dresses for men and women both that includes colorful chaniya-choli with work of tikka, and mirror done on it.

Numerous varieties of imitation jewelry and accessories like kada, chuda, baju-bandh, hasali-set for women and pagdi and traditional ornaments for men are also available in this temporary shop located at Ashok Nagar main road.

“We started this shop on 18^th of this month and since then we are getting good response,” says Vinod who also owns a famous shop ‘She Shopee’ at Shakti Nagar.

All price starts from minimum Rs. 20 to Rs.2000 for different items which they claim to be exclusively available only at Garba Bazar.
