All members of marble associations in Rajasthan shut their businesses and have started an indefinite strike against placing marble in the 28% tax bracket. Marble processors and dealers were already protesting this before GST implementation but starting today have completely shut down their businesses.

In support of the Rajasthan marble businessmen, the marble businessmen in Gujarat have also shut their businesses and joined the strike.

Tejendra Singh Robin, President of Udaipur Marble Association said that marble businesses have started an indefinite strike. All the gangsaw units remained shut today and there was no production.

Robin said that the strike will also have its impact on daily wage workers. If Govt does not take action, then they will continue the strike and daily wage workers may be the worst hit.

Robin also urged the Govt to support the marble business in an organised manner else the business will soon die out.
