Bombay Shaving company, a startup by alumnus from IIM Udaipur has recently raised $650K (Rs 4 Cr+)  from 25 high profile angel investors including 11 senior partners from McKinsey, 8 VC professional and 6 CEOs/ex-CEOs.

Founded in October 2015, firm engages in online designing and selling of high quality shaving products under their own brand name. The firm was founded by Rohit Jaiswal, alumnus of IIM Udaipur along with 3 other co-founders. In addition to Rohit, the other members include former McKinsey consultant Shantanu Deshpande, Raunak Munot, ex-Director, Social Strategy at GroupM, North America and Deepu Panicker, IIT Bombay alumnus and former Supply Chain Specialist at McKinsey.

The list of investors include former Vice Chairman, TCS and currently advisor to Prime Minister, S. Ramadorai and the India head of McKinsey Noshir Kaka.

S. Ramadorai sounded very positive on the firm and said that the team had developed a very high quality shaving system. He stated that it was very difficult to get the razor technology right and this team seems to have cracked it. He was particularly impressed with their speed and attention to details.

After spending the first 6 months in designing the product, the firm started selling the razors online in the month of June 2016. Despite being priced at the higher end, the firm has been growing at a brisk pace of 40%. The next target for the firm includes listing on online platforms through brand stores and even engaging in offline retail entry over the next 12-18 months.
