Going forward with our dissemination of startups being mentored by iStart, an initiative of the Rajasthan government, we bring to you an online platform, that makes venue hunting a lot more easier. Book My venues is an online portal, being managed by a startup working out of the iStart incubation centre at Udaipur.

Book My Venues, founded by Deependra Kumawat, is operating from the iStart campus in Udaipur.  The team consists of Deependra, 2 Interns who work in the incubation centre along with Deependra, 2 more working remotely and 2 free lancers from Bangalore, Haider and Rahul.

In an interaction with UdaipurTimes, Deependra explained the thought process behind the idea and how he was prompted to think about doing something like this.  Deependra began with explaining the platform, where he elaborated the services offered by BookMyVenues.com.  BookMyVenues has two service platforms – one being searching booking venues based upon preferences, event to be conducted, price and availability.  The other service s offered by the company include conceiving and managing events.  This year, the company has taken to social media aggressively to promote his platform.

He began his extempore by outlining the market need and opportunities in this business.  “ In India the biggest investment after Business and Home is a wedding, some time it’s even costing than the former two...” said Deependra.  The following section of this article are the excerpts from his interaction with Udaipur Times.

UT: What inspired you to start your startup?

Deependra: During the school days, I witnessed the weddings of my brothers and sisters. At that time the environment at home was no less than an elaborate parliamentary session. All relatives used to visit our home or we visited their home as per time and convenience.

Long discussions happened at the meeting place to discuss a list of requirements and to finalize the biggest of them all – Venue and Vendors.  After many years, i got to see the same environment, discussions and deliberations at my friends place during a family wedding.  This was a like going back in time and witnessing the same situation and similar confusion, all the more pronounced this time due to the plethora of options available.  The process was similar, albeit a bit swifter when it came to taking a decision and closing in on the options.  

This prompted the BookMyVenues idea and though the challenges are almost the same, BookMyVenues’ vision is to create a comprehensive platform to ease this dilemma and save time and money.

UT: How is your platform different from other such aggregators?

Deependra: BookMyVenues provides verified information about the venues and vendors. We believe in Transparency.  We provide available options and the deal happens directly between vendor and customer without our interference.  This is beneficial to both the vendor and the end client.  We play the role of moderator and stay that way till the end.

Deependra: We are looking at working with all event planners, organisers, venues and ancillary vendors by helping them in increasing their business.  WE look forward to bringing about a desirable change in the wedding and event management industry by adopting new methods.  Indirectly or directly, we also want to provide a platform for the related freelancing service providers in this industry.
