Udaipur is well known for its natural as well as manmade beauties. There are a number of reasons why this city is often described among the world’s best tourist points. However, besides all its immaculate architectures and shining lakes, unfortunately the rich natural habitat outside the city is slightly neglected.

The Lake city, Udaipur also has a number of forests all around which are home for various species of flora and fauna but till date there was no such effortless way to explore these untouched jungles of Mewar. Now, Junglee Dera is here to fill this gap between a city dweller and jungle.

Junglee Dera is the newest and first of its kind venture in Udaipur for those who love wildlife and adventure.

It organizes overnight camps in forests near Udaipur which includes a wildlife safari, trekking and various other activities to learn about nature and its habitat. The first overnight camp by Junglee Dera is scheduled for 5th Nov.

“In my college time I used to participate in many such camps around Mumbai, when I came back to Udaipur I noticed that around 100 kilometers of the region there are dense forests and hills but there is no way to organize a proper camping and that’s how the idea of Junglee Dera came up,” says Tauseef Germanwala who is an M.Sc from Mumbai and co-founder of Junglee Dera.

Tauseef and his friend Anshul Purohit nurtured the idea of starting a professional, safer and entertaining way to explore the forests around Udaipur which will probably open a new horizon for this tourist’s favorite city.

While introducing the working methodology of Junglee Dera, Tauseef said, “We are officially registered with Forest Department and have obtained all necessary permissions to organize overnight camps in jungles. Before the trip, every participant has to fill a form and a copy of it goes to forest department as intimation.”

“A forest ranger will accompany us for security and guidance and besides this we have medical facilities, food, tents and all basic amenities and excitement which includes bonfire, games, assigning team works etc. to give a pleasurable experience to our guests,” he added.

When asked about their upcoming trip on Nov 5, Anshul Purohit told us, “We have a group of 10 people, all locals as we are focusing on Udaipurites first, after a few more trips, we will start registering tourists.”

While describing the geographical traits of the forests, Anshul said, “Udaipur region has many jungles and wild life sanctuaries which are perfect for such adventurous tours; we will mainly focus on forests of Todgarh Raoli, Kumbhalgarh, Jaisamand, Kevde ki Naal, Sisarma and Bagdharra.”

Forests are an integral part of the whole natural cycle, every life on the earth is affected by the sequence of its existence. For a diehard adventurous person or one who is very passionate about nature, Junglee Dera is the best platform to introduce to the world of wilds.
