Stories fascinate us all, right from the childhood.
Sooner or later we must realize that each and everything which exists has a story of its own.
So do us! Let us take you on a short story ride, the story behind LOKALART.
Mewar is better known for its versatility in Traditional Arts, although interest for these arts is setting a declining trend. Under such circumstances three individuals have developed a plan of social entrepreneurship. The idea is to promote local arts by selling handmade products online.
The after-graduation phase drives most of us to dream about “Happy Placements” and “Pretty Good Salaries”. But some want to choose a different path. In January of 2013, Vinay Jain, Uttam Soni and Vishal Nyati got together with an idea; an idea which is understandable, ethical and stands for the welfare of everyone.
The trio of Vinay Jain, Vishal Nayati and Uttam Soni worked on the concept of preserving local arts. The business is in operation since 1st January 2013 through a website (www.lokalart.com), where they have listed more than 200 products manufactured by local artists.
A very interesting part and something that is unique to their approach is the detailing about the form of art and its historical background. Apart from this, the team has also provided details on the artisan thereby empowering the local producer.
According to Vinay Jain, Co-Founder, Lokalart, the idea behind this is to provide a single platform where one can satisfy his/her ethnic nerve. The concept behind going for an e-commerce venture is to provide the artwork a global exposure.
Talking about the future plans for the business Vinay says that promoting all types of traditional art along with empowering the artists is our sole motto.
Vinay further added that any types of artists can extract monitory benefits in our way of business since we pay a good value for the product bought from the artists.
Vishal Nayati, Co-Founder, Lokalart.com, informed that the word ‘LOKALART’ is derived from ‘Local Art’, but it is more connected with ‘Lok Kala Art’ which means promoting folk art.
The concept of promoting local art is fuelled by a team of 5 individuals including three founders. Team also takes pain to collect facts and details about various types of art and nothing is outsourced.
The team signs off saying: Discover Culture and Connect to your roots.
