Why Are Mahindra XUV400 Sales Falling? Just 10 Units Sold in August

September 30, 2026: The Mahindra XUV400 electric car offers a range of up to 456 km on a single charge. Despite its premium interior and modern features, its sales in the Indian market remain low. Only 10 units of the XUV400 were sold in August 2026, compared with 66 units in August 2025. This means sales dropped by 56 units, or 84% year-on-year. The XUV400 now contributes just 0.02% to the company's total market share.
EV lineup is stronger
Mahindra is making steady progress in the electric car market. With the launch of new models such as the BE 6 and XEV 9S, the company's EV lineup has become stronger. Mahindra is now the second-largest company in India's EV market, behind Tata Motors and ahead of MG Motor. However, sales of the company's entry-level electric SUV, the XUV400, continue to decline.
Climate Control Panel
The XUV400 is available in two variants: EC Pro and EL Pro. It features a new dashboard, a dual-tone interior and an updated climate control panel. A 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display are among its key features. For passenger safety, the SUV gets six airbags, a reverse camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system and an Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
Rear AC Vents, Wireless Phone Charging
The XUV400 with the 34.5 kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of 375 km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the 39.4 kWh battery pack version offers a claimed range of up to 456 km. The SUV also comes with features such as dual-zone AC, Type-C USB charging for rear passengers, rear AC vents, wireless phone charging, push-button start-stop, a height-adjustable driver's seat and a panoramic sunroof. The Tata Nexon EV is one of the main competitors of the XUV400 in the Indian market.
