The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board has proposed a project to recycle marble slurry waste of two plants at Udaipur. Along with it, the state government has also asked PWD (Public Works Dept) and Irrigation Department to take necessary action for uses of slurry.

Also, the state government has requested the NHAI or National Highways Authority of India to use the marble slurry for the construction of the 120 km stretch of the 4-lane road from Gomati to Udaipur.

In a recent study that holds the disposal of marble dust on roadside the major factor of problems such as drainage, flow regime, air pollution and damage to agricultural land, RSPCB is going to impose conditions on marble processing units to reuse and reprocess the slurry generated.

The board will now allow the marble sawing units on the precondition that the mine owners will effectively reuse the marble slurry within a year of getting license.
