New Delhi, February 19, 2026: At the India AI Impact Summit, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, announced that just as Jio made data affordable across India, it will now make Artificial Intelligence accessible and affordable for every Indian.
“India cannot rent intelligence,” Mr. Ambani said, adding that after connecting the nation to the Internet era, Jio will now usher India into the “Intelligence Era.”
To realize this vision, Jio and Reliance Industries will invest ₹10 lakh crore over the next seven years to build a robust AI ecosystem in India and strengthen the country’s economic foundation for decades to come.
As part of this initiative, the company is developing a multi-gigawatt AI-ready data center park in Jamnagar in a phased manner. By the end of 2026, the first 120 MW of capacity is expected to become operational, with plans to scale up to gigawatt levels. The entire infrastructure will be powered by green energy. Through its nationwide network, Jio will also provide distributed computing capacity to ensure AI services are delivered at low cost and high speed to homes, shops, schools, hospitals, and farms across India.
Mr. Ambani emphasized that Jio’s AI solutions will function in Indian languages, enabling farmers, youth, students, and small entrepreneurs to access AI tools in their native languages. In this direction, Jio introduced dedicated AI platforms: Jio Shiksha AI for education, Jio Arogya AI for healthcare, Jio Krishi AI for agriculture, and Jio Bharat IQ for general-purpose AI assistance. These platforms aim to deliver localized, AI-driven support tailored to India’s diverse population.
Expressing confidence in India’s potential to emerge as a global AI leader in the 21st century, Mr. Ambani said that technology must be accessible, affordable, and aligned with national priorities. He noted that after building connectivity as a foundational digital infrastructure, Jio is now positioning AI as the next national infrastructure.
Addressing concerns around job displacement, Mr. Ambani stated that AI is a transformative force that enhances productivity, intelligence, and efficiency across sectors. “I see AI as a modern-day Akshaya Patra — an inexhaustible source of nourishment,” he said, adding that AI will not eliminate jobs but instead create new opportunities in higher-skilled domains.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ambani praised the vision of Narendra Modi, stating that this AI-led development initiative will accelerate India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047. He added that India’s AI model could also serve as an inspiration for countries across the Global South.
