Udaipur based House of Fragrances (HOF) has established a novel benchmark to augment environmental awareness within society by their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity campaign, while at the same time provide continuing development and revenue stream to the local farmers in Udaipur and regions around Udaipur.
HOF, (Retail Unit - RV Perfumeries) has coordinated with farmers and landowners across Udaipur and planted 35,000 plants, which include Lemongrass, Hibiscus, Chamomile, Reetha, Brahmi, Bhringraj among others. The plantations have been spread across different parts of Udaipur and its nearby villages. Abrar Ahmed RV, the owner of House of Fragrances, says that the company plans to increase the plantation to 250000 by the end of 2023.
Abrar, in his conversation with UdaipurTimes said that this unique model of integrating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity along with countering the negative impact of global warming and environment degradation in tandem with providing additional livelihood to the nearby farmers will expectedly bear fruit in the short as well as medium term.
He added that the cost of procuring the plants is borne by HoF and the costs of plantation and associated costs are also borne by his company, so that there is no burden on the farmer. The only task that the farmer needs to do is to look after the plantation till the end of its farm cycle. The resultant product is then purchased by HoF and treated to be sold as essential oils and herbs as well as organic herbal oil. These oils and herbs, as per Abrar can be used in fragrance industry, perfumes, therapies, daily basis consumables as well as for personal well being.
These essential oils and herbs, which are extracts and fruits of Lemongrass, Hibiscus, Chamomile, Reetha, Brahmi, Bhringraj, Nagarmotha, Henna, Indigo, Shikakai and Manjishtha are available at the retail outlet of House of Fragrances at RV PERFUMERIES. The entire cycle of plantation, extract and eventual sale of essential oils is not just a commercial activity but also creates direct income contribution to the farmers of the region.
The CSR activity is technically supported by Dr. Vinod Sharma (Director – Shubh Labh Agro Biotech) who is the farming consultant and Premchand Kapaya (Kabir Nursery and Organic Farm House, Jhadol).
