Pre-incubation workshop held at IIM Udaipur | Plans to incubate 50 startups

IIM Udaipur’s incubation centre hosted its first pre-incubation workshop on the 16th of February 2017. IIMU has always upheld entrepreneurship as one of its foundation pillar. The establishment of an incubation centre is one of the many steps taken to achieve success in this domain.

The workshop was conducted by Arun Singhal, who is one of the directors of the incubation centre and an industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience in the corporate world. The idea of the event was to groom budding entrepreneurs by providing mentoring and helping with idea formulation.

A lot of people have ideas for starting up a business but may not presently have the resources to build it. Or at times the search is even more fundamental – people have ideas but don’t know what would be the first step in turning their ideas into reality. The thought behind the event was to provide encouragement as well as some guidance. The workshop was conducted free of cost with the purpose of supporting and encouraging budding entrepreneurs especially in the regions of Udaipur, Rajasthan.

The event saw people coming from varied backgrounds like Doctor, CA, Sarpanch of a village, students etc. The discussion in the workshop saw people having ideas ranging from the more popular domains like healthcare and ecommerce to innovative ideas regarding rural development. Social entrepreneurship was also one of the domain people showed inclination to work in.

The following days will see further sessions held by the incubation centre to help the participants in taking their ideas forward. The aim of IIM Udaipur is to be able to incubate 50 startups in the next few months.
