This was announced in the new policy approved by the State Cabinet on November 30
Udaipur, December 3, 2024 – The Rajasthan government has announced Rs 1.5 lakh crore as its target in exports by 2029. This was placed in its new policy which was approved by the Cabinet on November 30.
"Rajasthan is already a leader in products like gems and jewellery, handicrafts, dimension stones, textiles and engineering goods. We are not only focusing on our core competencies but encouraging other sectors to emerge as market leaders," said Ajitabh Sharma, principal secretary of the Industries Department.
In the year 2023-2024, Rajasthan had exported goods worth Rs 83,704 crore.
In order to reach this new target, the Industries Department has initiated certain measures that would work towards improving the ecosystem for exports, diversify products and expand the merchandise base. Also the need to simplify the export procedures is the hour of the need and therefore, compliance streamlining is being stressed upon. The department will be improving the infrastructure and reduce logistics costs so that competition remains healthy and robust.
According to Suresh Agarwal, who is the president of the Federation of Rajasthan Trade and Industry (FORTI), “The new policy has rightly articulated the opportunities and challenges. The target of Rs 1.5 lakh crore is very much within reach even if some of these policy measures are implemented.”
