Known for the mining and processing of Rock Phosphate, Gypsum, Lime Stone, Lignite and other industrial minerals at the National level, the Public Sector Enterprise of the State Government Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (R.S.M.M.L.), Udaipur is giving notable contribution in the economic and industrial progress of the State and the country on the one hand, while it is also aptly fulfilling its social responsibility on the other hand.

The State Enterprise continuing with its commercial progress has also shown its awareness towards moral and social responsibilities through its contribution in important sectors, like education, health, drinking water, infrastructure and community development and works associated with environment conservation. The R.S.M.M.L. has started a tradition of using a part of its profits in social works. Under this tradition, the enterprise has contributed notably in the priority sectors related to the social and regional development in the last few years.

The R.S.M.M.L. has given an assistance of Rs. 29.84 crores through Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the development of facilities related to medical and health. Through this amount, modern medical equipments have been arranged in the hospitals situated in Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisional headquarters and also at the district hospitals in Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer, Nagaur, Sojat and Pali. Besides medical camps have been organized in different rural areas and assistance have also been given for development of health centers.

Similarly the enterprise has contributed Rs. 6.30 crores for development of education. With this amount the R.S.M.M.L. has provided better education facilities in rural areas located near mining areas. Under this school buildings, class rooms’ construction, computers and other modern educational equipments, furniture and stationary have been made available.

The R.S.M.M.L. has spent Rs. 10.37 crores for infrastructure and community development in the State. This amount have been used for improving drinking water sources in rural areas, construction of roads, community building, bus stands, drains, veterinary hospitals, Gaushalas and gardens.

The enterprise has also given assistance of Rs. 1.49 crores for drinking water arrangements in scarcity- hit areas. Besides, ground water from Jhamarkotra Rock Phosphate Mine is being supplied in rural areas and in one fourth part of the Udaipur city. Similarly the saline water from Lignite Mines in Kasnau-Matsukh in Nagaur district is being treated and potable water being distributed in over 120 villages. Considering plantation and environment conservation has its primary responsibility, the R.S.M.M.L. has spent Rs. 2.74 crores in this sector.

In this way the State Enterprise has spent more than Rs. 50 crores in last few years and ably fulfilled its social responsibility.
