What makes a saree sexy? This is a question that we all are looking for, aren’t we? For some, a saree is an affair extraordinaire. Hours of preparation go into it. You look for the matching jhumkas, footwear and jewellery to go with it. If you are going to wear a saree to the wedding, buying floral jewellery is on the top of your list. Googling ‘Vidya Balan in saree’ to ‘the art of saree draping,’ you don’t want to leave any stone unturned to turn heads and drop jaws in awe! While some of you have mastered the art, some of us ‘lesser mortals’ are still trying to make sense of front pleats, pallus and to tell apart pure silk and art silk sarees.

Look up to your mother, grandmothers and aunts. How effortlessly they wear a saree and run errands. My mother can climb the flight of stairs, cook and host a couple of guests too. Here the likes of me, who would struggle to even go to the washroom and get the pleats right. Then we have women, who would wear saree on a daily basis. For Marwaris, Jains and Gujaratis women, sarees are not a big deal. They look so comfortable in their pure cotton sarees.

The Blouse Design

A blouse can make or break your appearance. If you are wearing a workwear saree or making a formal appearance, it is better to refrain from décolletage. For such events, you should go for traditional blouse back designs such as diamond-shape and round. There is nothing wrong with experiment but every place has a decorum that needs to be maintained. Even you know, showing up at work or a social event in a Kim Kardashian saree and blouse is a long shot by all means.

Footwear for Saree

Footwear helps to enhance your appearance in saree. This isn’t to say that you need to wear a six-inch heel to complete the look. However, you certainly look the part. If you are short, it is better to do away with platform heels. You don’t have to wear heels at all if you are uncomfortable with them. You can wear ‘jootis, mojdis or Kolhapuris if you want to.

Confidence

This is the most important ingredient that makes a saree quintessential outfit. Be confident in your gait and let the drape do its magic! Whether you are a saree-amateur or a pro at draping nine yards of fabric, own the look!
