Unlike every year of Diwali festival, this year the retailers of two wheeler automobile companies are not promoting any additional discounts and freebies on their products. The reason might be the recession in previous year’s and the dipped down of sales. Accordingly the retailers have predicted a huge demand of two-wheeler for the season as the festival will bring joy to the market as a huge number of vehicles are booked in advance.
The major grounds on which the two-wheeler companies have decided to avoid any additional monetary discounts in the market is through their Market Analysis of the previous Quarter. Retailers understood the demand of their products as the order was exceeding the availability with a good margin.
Automatic scooters are those kinds of two-wheelers which have outstripped bikes in numbers for their demand. Honda Activa, Honda Avaitor, Suzuki Access etc. are in appeal for the season and have performed excellent in the market so there is no use of offers and promotions. The festive months of October and November are treated as handsome months for automakers and this time hopefully they would turn out to be the appealing months in monetary sense also.
I have taken some of the leading Two-wheeler automobile companies and made a brief for their newly launched products for the season with any special offers if they have.
Hero Honda, Desh Ki Dhadkan. This Indian brand has not been giving any price-offs from the past 3 years and this year also they have kicked off for any discounts for the festival. Although Hero Honda is launching two additional models i.e. Splendor Pro and Passion Limited Editions (White).
For Udaipur, we have two dealers i.e. Royal Motors and Manama Motors. Both have booked around 250 bikes and are expecting a sale around 1500 to 2000 this Diwali.
….
Bajaj, again an Indian brand into the list. Bajaj being India’s second largest automaker seems as it has also done its part with discounts and rebates. This company was known for the 0% finance options till little years back. However this year there is no scope of any discounts from company’s side. Although Bajaj has launched a new bike in the continuation of its product Discover i.e. Discover 150.
In Udaipur, Nice Bajaj is the only showroom for Bajaj bikes and till now they have booked around 170 bikes and also have 5 to 7 bookings per day. They are expecting a sale of around 1700 bikes this season.
….
Suzuki is also a big name in the automobile sector. Suzuki Motorcycles said that there is no scope for the Discounts this season as the market is cheerful and they are fighting to get along with the demands. Suzuki has also launched a new bike for the Diwali season named Sling Shot a 125 cc bike. According to the dealers, Customers are willingly offering to pay premiums for prompt deliveries. In automatic scooters, Suzuki’s Access 125 has also covered a good market.
….
Yamaha, Talking about two-wheelers, how can one forget the name of Yamaha? Yamaha has launched a new bike this festival around a cost of 75000 Rs. The Bike is named Yamaha SG a 150 cc bike. This new launch of Yamaha Motors attracts the premium range bikers.
According to the dealer of town i.e. Gandhi Motors, they have a good booking rate for the week and the company is not in the mood of any offers. Yamaha’s premium range bikes like Yamaha R15 and Fazer were a good sale throughout the year.
….
TVS Motors Company is India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturers. The Nation famous Scooty is a gift of TVS only. For the month of September, TVS has recorded the highest sale of 31%. TVS has also launched a new scooter WEGO and the company is offering a free Micromax Mobile on the purchase of selected models.
As per Udaipur’s dealer Roshan TVS, the booking figures have increased by 30% for the year. And with the freebies they are expecting a more rise in the bookings and sales.
….
Honda, The automatic scooters of Honda are at boom from the past couple of years. Honda Activa today holds the maximum percentage of market in terms of gearless scooters. They have also launched a new and upgraded version of Activa to avoid competition and are also not able to manage with the rise in the demand. Honda also is going to launch a series of premium segment bikes on 6th November, 2010 costing around 1.5 lacs.
Taking Udaipur, Honda Aviator is easily available on booking. However for Activa, one has to wait just about for a month.
Comparing this with other markets for e.g. Electronics, Home Appliances etc., I analyze a wide contrast as the other markets are making a lot of promotions with price layoffs, Silver coins, Interest rebates, free memberships, freebies and many more. The reason I think is an optimistic approach in the market.
However I need views, comments and suggestions i.e. if there are other reasons for the same.
