Trump Warns of 25% Tariff on Countries Trading With Iran
US President Donald Trump's warning of 25% tariff on countries doing business with Iran comes amid deadly protests and rising global tensions
Udaipur, Jan 13, 2026 – US President Donald Trump has warned that the US will impose an additional 25% tariff on any country doing business with Iran. He announced this in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday (January 12).
“Effective immediately, any country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This Order is final and conclusive,” the US President said.
This decision comes in the wake of anti-government protests raging in Iran which has led to hundreds of deaths. The US has already imposed strict economic sanctions on Iran amid Trump’s threat to “come to their rescue” if the government “violently” intervenes with the protestors.
The countries which could be impacted by Trump’s threat of the 25% tariff are Iran’s major trading partners such as India, China, Turkey, the UAE, Pakistan and Armenia. The US has already imposed a 50% tariff on India – 25% reciprocal tariff and a 25% tariff as a penalty for buying crude oil from Russia.
