Shark…or Marazzo in Spanish is the name that Mahindra chose for its MPV earlier known as U321. Marazzo, in the Basque language of Spanish, is the translation of the english word Shark. The name Marazzo is not taken just out of the blue, as Chief Designer of Mahindra, Ananthan Ramkripa says that the vehicles design is inspired by the Shark, both the interiors as well the external look mimic certain aspects of the giant fish.
Marazzo, based on a new platform, will be manufactured in Nashik, though it has been designed at the company’s North American Technical Centre, the first vehicle from Mahindra to have been designed there. It has been co-designed by Pininfarina and the Kandivali design unit of Mahendra

Mahindra’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine will mark its debut with the Marazzo. The engine is tuned to produce 121hp and 300Nm and will be paired with a 6 speed gearbox. An automatic variant will be offered in the near future as well. Variants will be available in 7 and 8 seater.
Apple Car Play, Android Auto, steering mounted audio controls, projector headlamps, daytime running lights and automatic climate control are just some of the standard Mahindra features which will be available in Marazzo.
Marazzo, with is size, will be placed between the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta, but will be closer to Maruti as far as price is concerned. The company confirms that Marazzo is not a replacement for any of its existing models, but rather a premium version of the Xylo.
Xylo was launched in early 2009 and has continued ever since. Whether the production will continue, depends on the performance of Marazzo. Mahindra sells approximately 800 Xylos.
Marazzo is soon expected. Check out details from your nearest Mahindra dealer in Udaipur.
