An open discussion forum was held at UCCI in the presence of its members, leading entrepreneurs of the city, Mayor, Collector and other officials who discussed about the possibilities & limitations of making Udaipur, a smart city.
Chief guest Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari emphasized the participation of general public in the efforts for a holistic development. He informed about the various schemes of Nagar Nigam in which the highlight was laying of sewerage lines in the city for which budget of Rs. 600 Cr is allotted along with beautification of Ahar River. Also, deweeding machines will be bought with the budget of Rs. 2 Cr provided by UIT for cleaning of lakes.
Kothari informed about restoration of heritage in the old markets, conservation of ancient gates at prime locations, multilevel parking at busy streets and development of animal shelter etc. But he also put forth the point that public participation is a must for Smart City.
Collector Rohit Gupta highlighted that the need in the city is to stop the misuse of public property that is installed for beautification of the city but is tarnished by the locals only. Therefore it is imperative that people understand their responsibilities towards the city.
Various presentations were given by President V.P Rathi, Former President Komal Kothari, Former President Ramesh Chaudhary, Deputy President Hansraj Chaudhary, E-Connect Solutions’ Manoj Agrawal, Former President Veerendra Siroya and Manmohan Raj Singhvi.
