UPI 'Collect Request' Feature to End from Oct 1

NPCI takes action to curb fraud; feature between individuals to be disabled

Aug 14, 2025 - To prevent fraud in the digital payment system, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has directed all banks and UPI-linked payment apps to disable the Person-to-Person (P2P) Collect Request or Pull Transaction feature starting from October 1, 2025.

The Collect Request is a feature that allows any user to send a payment request to another UPI user. The transaction is completed only when the recipient approves the request and enters their UPI PIN.

This rule means that from October 1, none of the member banks and UPI apps - such as Google Pay, Paytm and PhonePe - will be able to initiate, route or process P2P Collect transactions.

The NPCI aims at strengthening security and prevent payment-related fraud by disabling this feature which has lately been misused by fraudsters.
