15th All World Conference of Progressive Dawoodi Bohras
Prominent personalities in the field of social activism, human rights and progressive thinkers will be on stage at the 2 day 15th All World Dawoodi Bohra Conference, that has been organized at Udaipur under the banner of Central Board Of Dawoodi Bohra Community, Mumbai, on 11th and 12th March 2017 at Bhartiya Lok Mandal
Prominent personalities in the field of social activism, human rights and progressive thinkers will be on stage at the 2 day All World Dawoodi Bohra Conference that is being held at Udaipur in the second week of March.
The two day 15th All World Dawoodi Bohra Conference has been organized at Udaipur under the banner of Central Board Of Dawoodi Bohra Community, Mumbai, on 11th and 12th March 2017 at Bhartiya Lok Mandal, Udaipur.
The conference will be inaugurated by Wajahat Habibullah who was the first Chief Information Commissioner of India after enactment of Right to Information Act by the Indian Parliament. He has also held the post of Chairman, National Minorities Commission of India.
Padma Shri Indira Jai Singh, former Additional Solicitor General and senior Advocate of Supreme Court of India will be the Chief Guest. Social activist Swami Agnivesh, Ved Vyas, Chairman, Progressive Writers Association and other eminent intellectuals, writers and social activists from India are likely to participate in the conference.
To make the conference a success a reception committee has been formed under the Chair of Prof Madhusudan Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Kota Open University. The committee includes thirty well known Social Activists and professionals from Udaipur.
This World Conference is in continuation of fourteen such periodical conferences organized earlier in different cities of India by the Central Board of Dawoodi Bohra Community.
Through these gatherings, Progressive Bohras deliberate upon issues confronting their struggles for social reform during the last half a century and finalize future programs as well as passing resolutions on critical issues. The inaugural session is followed by two delegate sessions and election of office bearers.
With the intention to augment the larger communities towards the fundamental aims of the Central Board of Dawoodi Bohra Community and emphasize communal harmony, a Memorial Seminar on “Communal Harmony, Secularism and Democracy” to commemorate the 78th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer will be held on 10th March, 2017 at the same venue. This Seminar is a part of the Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer Memorial Lecture series.
Professor Faizan Mustafa, Chancellor, NALSAR National Law University; Harsh Mander, IAS and former member National Advisory Committee; Ved Vyas and Irfan Engineer will be the prominent speakers at the Seminar, which will be convened by Razia Sanwari.
The Seminar on the 10th will begin at 3pm and will be followed by a full length play on communal harmony, “Lashkar Chowk”, which will be performed by Natyansh Society, Udaipur.
This event is being organized under the aegis of Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat(Regd) and Bohra Youth Association, Udaipur.
