325 Million Dollars Pledged towards Polio Eradication

The Rotary Club International and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has initiated a Polio Eradication movement in the Indian Subcontinent and Nigeria and pledged to donate 325 Million Dollars for the movement.

The Rotary Club International and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has initiated a Polio Eradication movement in the Indian Subcontinent and Nigeria and pledged to donate 325 Million Dollars for the movement.

This International movement aims to eradicate Polio from the country in the next two years. Rotary International will be spreading awareness and also organize polio vaccinations camp in Udaipur, Jaipur, Gwalior, Kota and Ahmedabad. The organization will also be installing posters and hoardings for the awareness causes.

Shekhar Mehta, Director, Rotary International unveiled the first Polio Eradication hoarding in Udaipur at Rotary Bajaj Bhawan today.

325 Million Dollars Pledged towards Polio Eradication

Mehta, when asked about the movement said, “It’s a pleasure to be a part of this movement and we will be granting our full support to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.”. He further added, “It is also a proud fact for us that no case of Polio has been registered in the country in the last year.”

The Polio Eradication movement will be led in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria for the next 2 years.

The event at the Rotary Bhawan was also attended by Sushil Banthiya, President, Rotary Club, Udaipur and O.P. Sahalot, Secretary, Rotary Club Udaipur.
