The third film festival by Udaipur Film Society began on 25th September keeping the theme ‘Cinema of Resistant’ intact through film screening, seminars, speeches, posters and exhibition.
The third film festival by Udaipur Film Society began on 25th September keeping the theme ‘Cinema of Resistant’ intact through film screening, seminars, speeches, posters and exhibition. Eminent historian and filmmaker Uma Chakravarti inaugurated the festival.
The event started with ‘Humari Virasat’ poster series and exhibition of Chitto Prasad’s photographs. Special Guest Socialist Naresh Bhargava emphasized the importance of films that are examples of democracy and freedom of expression.
Organizer Shailendra Singh Bhati informed the 3 years of journey of the society in which the group had screened meaningful films in villages, grams, colonies, schools and colleges of Udaipur and nearby, remote areas as well.
The event witnessed the screening of film ‘Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho’ directed by Sayeed Mirza and written by famous writer Bhishm Sahni. Other films such as Uma Chakravarti’s ‘Fragments of Past,’ Fahad Mustafa and Deepa Kakkar’s ‘Katiyabaaz’ were screened for the audience.
During the festival, Aghaz Group performed ‘Ismat Apa Ke Naam’ play which encapsulated four main stories of Ismat Chugtai. The first day concluded with screening of the film ‘Court’ which is India’s official entry to Oscars this year.
Today, on 26th September, special sessions for kids will be organized along with other important films on various social issues.
