Under the direction of District Collector, The Social Justice and Empowerment Department and social service organization are conducting a joint campaign to eradicate begging from the city.

After continuously insisting beggars not to beg, the administration is now going to take strict action against habitual beggars.

Mandhata Singh, deputy director of Social Justice and Empowerment Department informed that international agency UNICEF will support the Udaipur administration for rehabilitation of beggars.

Shailendra Pandya, joint director of Gyatri Seva Sansthan said, “The volunteers of NGO conducted last counseling of beggars today at Surajpol, Bapu Bazar, Hathipol and Delhi Gate. The volunteers requested beggars to go to old age homes supervised by administration or return to their native places or be prepared to face legal action.”

The administration is preparing a rescue team with NGOs. Many beggars from nearby state are migrating to Udaipur due to the upcoming tourist season. Many of them work as an organized gang and bother tourists.
