The Blood Bank located in M.B Hospital compound, has planned to organise blood donations camp every month, so as to come up with the requirement of needy patients in the hospital. This decision was taken in a meeting held earlier this morning.

Today in this meeting organised in the presidency of Prashant Sharma, a social worker, who took an initiative to motivate individuals for donating blood. Prashant started this drive from 25^th August from Jaipur, in which he is covering various districts of Rajasthan riding a bike.

According to Prashant Sharma, blood banks of Rajasthan are facing scarcity of blood, while the requirements are increasing every day. A reason behind the insufficiency is lack of awareness among the local masses. So the drive has been initiated to motivate and convey benefits of regular donations.

Prashant further added that,”After a discussion with contributing NGO’s of Udaipur it is decided that on 2^nd Saturday of every month a blood donation camp will be organised. Though the venue is still under the talks and will be finalized soon, these monthly donation camps would start from October onwards.”

Prashant Sharma also informed that the donated blood is beneficial for donor, as it helps reducing cholesterol from the body and reducing the chances of heart attack. Although preserved for a limit of not more than 32 days, as a result donations camps must be organised frequently.
