CAIT Women Wing Starts Skill Training for Women Inmates
CAT Women Wing Udaipur launches a skill development initiative at the women’s correctional home; plans training in handicrafts and livelihood skills on International Women’s Day
Udaipur, March 9, 2026 - Working towards women empowerment, CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) Women Wing Udaipur has initiated a programme to start skill development classes for women at the correctional home.
CAIT Women Wing Udaipur president and National Committee Member Vijaylaxmi Galundia said that while CAIT works to promote the businesses of its members, it also strives to reach sections of society that need opportunities to become self-reliant. With this objective, a plan has been developed to launch skill development courses and employment-oriented programmes for women serving sentences in the women’s correctional homes.
Under the direction and guidance of Skill Development Director Sushma Kumawat, a special programme was organised at the women’s correctional home on the occasion of International Women’s Day. During the event, interaction was held with around 100 women inmates.
They will be trained to create handmade items such as bags, aprons, roti covers, purses, decorative potlis, decorative diyas, crochet flowers, bags and other handicraft items to help them move toward self-reliance under the guidance of Lajja and Yogini Dak,
Skill Development Director Sushma Kumawat, Urmila Jain, Kalpana Chordiya,and Chayanika Galundia were present at the event.
On this occasion, the jailer, wardens and the staff of the correctional facility were also felicitated by the organisation.
