Career Counseling with Udaipur Times – the need of the hour for students

Udaipur Times Career Conclave 2018, a part of Udaipur Times Career Counseling Program has been the maiden social initiative by UT, prompted by successful meets our team had across a few schools and colleges in Udaipur over the last few months.

Beginning October 2017, UT, along with its career counselling team visited a few schools and colleges in and around Udaipur seeking to establish a direct connect with the students.  Our team, meeting students and interacting at all levels, understood that for school students, career counselling began and ended with the kind of job they would get if they choose a particular subject or field.  For college students, the opportunities that lay in the corporate sector once they pass out defined the scope of career counseling.  A very few students had a clear idea on the meaning of a career and what they would like to do.  Realising, students need to be educated that Career development is more than just deciding on your major subject and what job you want to do after graduation has prompted this initiative.

UdaipurTimes Career Conclave 2018 Part 1 was a beginning made with school students, educating them on the opportunities available in their field of interest and the subjects they decide to choose.

With the successful culmination of the event on 24 June, where over 200 participants, including the students and their parents along with panelist from different areas – engineering, medicine, armed forces, commerce and management interacted with each other, the going seems good.

UT has come up with a Career Counselling section, where students, irrespective of which class they are in, as well as their elders and parents can ask questions – single or multiple through the interaction form.  Their queries will be addressed by UT to the relevant mentor and guide and a one to one interaction will be initiated.
