Udaipur District Collector holds meeting on illegal hill cutting and unauthorised construction; orders survey and swift action against violators
Udaipur, Dec 20, 2025 - The district administration has adopted a strict stance against illegal hill cutting and unauthorised construction taking place in and around the city. In this regard, an important meeting of officials was held on Friday (December 19) under the chairmanship of District Collector Namit Mehta at his residence. During the meeting, Collector Mehta held a detailed review of illegal hill cutting, unauthorised construction and works being carried out without permission. He directed immediate and effective action against those found guilty.
The Collector sought information regarding approvals granted for roads and other structures constructed on various hills and said no leniency would be tolerated in cases of rule violation.
While seeking details of approvals granted for roads and other structures constructed on various hills, Mehta said that in cases where there is no legal permission or where conditions have been violated, all documents must be examined in detail. He said that illegal hill cutting is not merely a violation of the law, but a direct attack on the environment and the rights of future generations. Those found involved will face cancellation of land rights, along with necessary legal action by the Revenue Department and Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) related to seizure proceedings, the Collector warned.
He further said that if the involvement or negligence of any officer is found in such cases, strict action will also be taken against them.
The Collector directed all departments to conduct an immediate survey of the affected villages and areas and submit a detailed investigation report, so that swift action can be ensured against the guilty. Illegal construction and hill cutting will not be accepted under any circumstances, he stressed.
The meeting was attended by SDM Girwa Avula Sai Krishna, UDA Deputy Commissioner Surendra B Patidar, UDA Tehsildar Abhinav Sharma, Ranjit Singh Bittu, Girwa Tehsildar Shyam Singh Charan, Badgaon Tehsildar Hitesh Trivedi and officials from Mining and other departments.
