Divisional Commissioner, Subodh Agarwal, on a random visit in the morning today, reached the overflowing Fathehsagar and checked out the conditions by which the life-line-lake of Udaipur is getting polluted.

Haji Mohammad, a volunteer of Lake Conservation Committee, told Divisional Commissioner that, people throw broken beer bottles, injections and other sharp edged thing with the garbage and this makes it more difficult for us to clean the lake. We work bare hands, we get cuts on our hands and that might cause septic. Lake Conservation Committee is an organization which is working for the conservation of the lakes and removing all the garbage being thrown in the lakes.

On this, Divisional Commissioner asked Lokesh Choudhry of Udaipur Builders Association, that, what their organization is doing for the lakes. At this, Lokesh Choudhry immediately announced to donate a boat worth 1 lakh Rupees for the sanitation of garbage out of lakes and to provide gum boots and hand gloves to the volunteers of the lake conservation committee.

Subodh Agarwal also ordered the officials to stop all bhuttawala for doing business there. Additional District Magistrate, B.R. Bhati, who was also present with the Divisional Commissioner, warned the people who were bathing and washing clothes in the lake that if they are seen next time polluting the lake then they will be arrested then and there.

UIT Secretary, Rameshwar Prasad Sharma; Commissioner, Nagar Parishad, Satya Naran Acharya were also present at the scene, Divisional Commissioner also ordered Commissioner, Nagar Parishad to dispose off the garbage that has been pulled out by the volunteers.

The whip of Divisional Commissioner seemed to work as the volunteers started to remove garbage from the lake, but it must be worth noted that nobody is looking at the basement side of the under constructed “Vibhuti Park”, which has become a more like ground for the anti social elements and drunken gangs.
