On the eve of Independence Day, Study material was distributed amongst inmates at Central Jail, Udaipur. This event was carried out under a joint collaboration of Rotary Club, Udaipur and Journalists Association of Rajasthan, Udaipur.
Sushil Banthia, President, Rotary Udaipur said, “Due to lack of a sound educational background, many individuals go easily on the way of crime and later spend days of guilt during their sentence. Education is necessary, with which we get sense to control our urges, including anger.”
He asked inmates to devote at least 2 hours daily in studying the material they have been given, and refrain their senses. He added, “You should take a fresh start to walk on the correct path”, he added.
Harish Paliwal of JAR informed that, “A total of 1200 inmates are in different Jails of Udaipur and they have many problems, and with lack of education they suffer from many differences.
They can’t communicate to higher authorities also, because of this barrier. Their basic rights also get violated unknowingly because of lack of education”. He also promised to conduct such programs on a regular basis.
Ramavtar Sharma, Central Jail said, “The ongoing social activities in Jails motivated the inmates. Many of them have even passed standard classes from fifth to eighth. Such social programs involving Education and Social attitude would surely prove good for their coming life”.
O.P. Sahlot, Secretary, Rotary Club also praised such events and labeled these as the milestones in the life of the inmates.
The Club also agreed to fulfill the requests of providing Inland letters and postcards to inmates. Stationaries including Notepads, Pencil, Eraser, Alphabetic Charts, Numeric Charts, Human Body Anatomy Models and study material were distributed amongst inmates by members of the Club and JAR.
