Ganga Dussehra: Lake Cleaning, Ganga Poojan and Discussion

“The absolute cleaning of Ganga River Basin is the only way to clean the River Ganges. There is a population of 50 crore people who live in Ganga basin. The basin is spread in 11 districts including Rajasthan and the joint contribution of people regarding conservation of water bodies will help nurturing the societies."

These thoughts were shared by Anil Mehta, assistant secretary of Lake Conservation Committee today after Ganga Poojan on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra.

Nandkishore Sharma, secretary of Mohan Singh Mehta Memorial Trust said, “Sisarma, Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Ayad, Udaisagar are linked to Ganga River, this link further joins Chambal and in Ganga River.”

Sharma said that, restoring Ayad River through Green Bridge will definitely help curbing the pollution in Ganga.

Environmentalists Dr. Fatima Liyaquat and Fish Expert Ismail Ali Durga were also present in the traditional poojan with agriculture expert A.R Khan.
