If you ever wanted to plant a tree in remembrance of your loved ones or to mark that special occasion but did not do so for the fear of not being able to maintain it, then you would love this new initiative by Forest Department.
To facilitate tree plantation and adoption by locals, forest department is now encouraging tree plantation in the organic park at Sajjangarh. Post plantation, citizens can either decide to take care of the trees that they planted OR can deposit an amount of Rs 1000 with the Deputy Forest Officer (Wildlife) trust.
Chief Forest Officer (Wildlife) Rahul Bhatnagar informed that the one thousand rupees amount will go towards taking care of the tree planted over its life. This exercise he says will also result in employment generation.
It may be noted that in 2015-16, at the behest of Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria’s initiative, 24 trees were given up for adoption by corporate trusts and individuals. Rahul Bhatnagar called upon citizens of Udaipur to participate in numbers in this initiative.
