A sewage treatment plant established by Hindustan Zinc Limited (Vedanta Group) has began its operations in Manavkheda. HZL with Rajasthan Govt. had established 20 million tonne capacity treatment plant in the recent past.

Every day Udaipur produces 70 million tonne of waste of which 30% is getting treated by this plant.

Built with state-of-the-art technology, this treatment plant is first of its kind in Rajasthan which also helps in saving water. Recently, small pipelines that collect household water are getting aligned with the main pipe that is going to carry the collective waste directly to the sewage treatment plant.

This treatment plant aims to reduce the flow of waste to the water bodies of Udaipur. Also, with the onset of this plant, the compost generated thereafter will be used by Municipal Corporation that is estimated to generate revenue of Rs. 1 crore annually.
