The two-day international conference on Cochlear Implant concluded successfully at Pacific Medical College and Hospital. More than 60 specialist doctors from world over became a part of the event.
The initiative of Cochlear implant will be a boon for the hearing impaired children who belong to the tribal Udaipur region. The high point of the conference was the successful cochlear implant operation of 6 children who had hearing and speech disorder.
After monitoring for one month, the specialist doctors will switch on the unit to start the operations. For the next 6 months, all the 6 kids will be provided speech therapy and the guardians will be given counselling for the same. Out of these 6 kids, 3 belong to Mahesh Ashram.
Usually this kind of operation costs between 6 lac to 12 lac but this cochlear implant operation was entirely borne by Pacific Medical College and Hospital.
