Khoj brings science alive and makes it exciting by engaging with science in a hands-on manner. What we have started this year is the seed for a bigger, more permanent initiative to enliven science in Udaipur.

Khoj is Secure Meter’s attempt to make a lasting impact on the communities that it works with and in. It is a volunteer effort, designed and run entirely by Secure employees. To date, we have interacted with more than 3000 children by building and taking fun and simple experiments to schools in and around Udaipur. We are working with 10-12 year olds and showing them how exciting and relevant science is.

The ability to explore and discover is the basis of progress, and it has allowed the developed world to become developed. From health care to national security, scientific research and discovery is what differentiates the primitive from the cutting edge. There is still so much to discover- thousands of diseases are untreatable, we are looking for new, better sources of energy, and we don’t know about most of what’s out there in space.

Kindling an explorer’s spirit in young students as they first encounter science is taking the first step towards creating adults who will find the answers to these questions. Getting kids interested in, and excited by science is an important step along the journey of independent growth- children can use the scientific method with any form of knowledge, equipping them to learn in any situation.

To date, we have interacted with more than 3000 ten to twelve year old children by building and taking fun and simple experiments to schools in and around Udaipur.
