Hindustan Zinc collaborated with Mamta Menstrual Hygiene Management to hold awareness sessions in eight government schools as part of its Shiksha Sambal programme and in line with "Together for a Period-Friendly World" theme.
Udaipur, May 30, 2025 – On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Hindustan Zinc Limited marked the day by raising awareness about girls' health and hygiene in areas surrounding its operational units. The company organised extensive campaigns and awareness sessions in various government schools to educate girls about menstruation and promote awareness.
Under Hindustan Zinc's healthcare initiative, and in collaboration with Mamta Menstrual Hygiene Management, awareness sessions were held in eight government schools as part of the Shiksha Sambal programme. These sessions took place in Zawar (Udaipur), Dariba (Rajsamand), Chanderiya (Chittorgarh) and Agucha (Bhilwara), reaching out to a total of 582 boys and girls.
Engaging Activities
In line with this year’s theme, "Together for a Period-Friendly World", a series of engaging and educational activities were conducted to increase awareness among adolescents and promote healthy practices. The session began with a pre-test to assess participants' existing knowledge. A female doctor, using a menstrual hygiene management (MHM) apron, conducted the awareness session, explaining the biological process of menstruation, the menstrual cycle and essential hygiene practices.
To dispel common myths and misconceptions, a quick myth-busting session was held, using card tools to encourage greater participation from the girls. An engaging and interactive floor game using a specially designed MHM-themed snakes and ladders mat was also used to communicate key hygiene messages in a fun and memorable way.
The session also addressed anemia symptoms and prevention, guiding students on how to identify signs like fatigue and pale skin, supported by anemia charts and dietary tips. Additionally, various safe menstrual hygiene options such as sanitary pads, tampons, menstrual cups and disposable period panties were showcased to help girls make informed choices about their menstrual health.
