On the occasion of World Blood Donation Day, Ravindra Pal Singh, fondly called Kappu donated blood for the 70th time in his life after donating blood at least twice every year after attaining the legal age.
A blood donation camp was organized at the RNT Medical College in which members of over 13 organizations participated in this noble deed.
Kappu, a motor parts seller by profession says, “I was only 18 and in school when suddenly one day my parents picked me up and took me to the hospital where my aunt was admitted. Luckily her blood group matcher with mine and I donated blood for the first time.” This incident made a deep impact in the young mind and since then he made a target to donate blood every year on his birthday.
He also started organizing blood donation camps on special days, national holidays and religious occasions to aware more and more people for the cause.
Inspired by their father, Shivansh and Aayush have started donating blood too. Shivansh has donated blood 15 times while his younger brother Aayush at the age of 20 has donated blood 7 times.
Kappu says, “In today’s times, blood donated by a single person can save 4 lives at a time. So there should not be holding back as hundreds of poor people are seen helplessly wandering in need of blood. There are more donors like Ganesh Dagliya, Dinesh Kumar Jain who have been motivating people to come ahead for blood donation.”
